At Smoke&Mirrors Studio we photograph women of all ages and sizes. We know how to put together a fun experience to get you photos you'll treasure.
We’ve put together a number of possibilities for quick, easy and affordable mini-sessions. You’ll enjoy doing any one of these and will love the results!

Here are our mini-session options. Which one would you like to do?
Simply portraits
Glorious portrait photos of you. We can give you a traditional portrait, a stylised shoot or whatever you decide on. It’s up to you!
We can complete this in 45 minutes. Hair and makeup is not included in this package.
You’ll receive the shoot and five digital images of your choice - and yes, you can purchase more images. The cost is $250 complete.

White Sheet
Our client’s favourite mini-session! White Sheet Shoot is light, soft and ethereal. It uses natural light through the large windows. You’ll be wrapped up in white sheets on our studio airbed.
We’ve photographed White Sheet shoots for women from their 20s to their 60s.
We can complete this in 45 minutes. Hair and makeup is not included in this package, but we suggest hair down (if you have longer hair) gets better images.
You’ll receive the shoot and five digital images of you choice - and yes, you can purchase more images. The cost is $250 complete.

Black Sheet
One of our most popular ideas, the Black Sheet Shoot is you, a set of satin black sheets and careful lighting. It’s dramatic and moody, sensual and uplifting. It uses flash lighting for drama and shimmer on your skin and the satin sheets.

We can complete this in 45 minutes. Hair and makeup is not included in this package, but we suggest hair down (if you have longer hair) gets better images.
All but one of our Black Sheet Shoot clients have just worn a set of knickers. If you want your shoulders and back included in this photo shoot - and you’ll want to - then this is ideal. Don’t worry, the sheets can cover everything you want to cover!

Backlit
The Backlight is you in front of our super-large light box and is particularly good at emphasising a woman’s shape. It combines the extremes of light and dark, for incredible silhouette images.
We can complete this in 45 minutes. Hair and makeup is not included in this package, and hair can be either up or down.
The Backlight Shoot is all about shape and subtle lighting. You can wear a one-piece or two-piece lingerie set, corset, or other tight clothing. Fishnets also work well. Or you can wear nothing, for the ultimate in nude photography.

As Christchurch’s first boudoir studio, we are Canterbury’s boudoir specialists since 2019. Our work and client testimonials prove that you’ll love your photos and feel fabulous doing so. Your photographer is Michael Jones.
The experience
You’ll have a fun time! For our Mini-sessions we start with a chat and I take you through everything you need to know for your shoot. During the shoot I’ll guide you through any poses you need. After the shoot we’ll book you in for your photo reveal, where you will see all of your fully edited photos and choose your five favourites.
At the end of your Smoke&Mirrors Studio experience you’ll feel fabulous.
