We didn’t mean to take this photo!

My model and I were down on Christchurch’s Strip, in Oxford Street, for a photo shoot, with the idea to use the lights of bars and eateries as an interesting and colourful background for a portrait shoot.

But I had set the start time too early and it was still very light outside. So, slightly embarrassed, I took my model into Fat Eddie's for a drink. While at the bar I asked if it was okay to take photographs inside.

My model sat down in the lounge at back, I took a few photos and this one is my favourite.

Many women – so many women – who saw this photo admired and asked about the shoes. So eventually I reached out to my model about them.

She burst out laughing, saying that they were just cheapies from Number One Shoes!

Sometimes great photos can come from accidents.
