See yourself in a new way

Black Sheet

“I had the best time at my shoot and am so happy with my photos. Michael really helped settle my nerves and I felt at ease even after the first phone consultation. I can't stop looking at my photos I just love them so much! Highly recommend to anyone who might have been thinking about getting a boudoir shoot but are too nervous. Go for it!!” – Ms D

Our famous Black Sheet shoot is a Smoke&Mirrors favourite.

It’s dark, dramatic, moody and wonderfully sensual. If you’ve been thinking about trying boudoir but feel a little nervous, this is a great place to start.

The shoot

Black satin sheets, flash lighting and you.

The flash catches the shimmer of the satin and skims across your skin, creating dramatic shadows and beautiful highlights. The sheets wrap around you, allowing us to create images that reveal as much or as little as you want.

Most women wear very little for Black Sheet, although you certainly don't have to. Lingerie, a bodysuit or whatever makes you feel comfortable can work beautifully too.

And yes, the sheets cover everything you want them to cover.

Who is it for?

We've photographed women from their 20s through to their 60s with Black Sheet.

It's for women who want to feel sensual. Women who want to feel confident. Women who want to do something a little different and see themselves in a new way.

The shoot takes about an hour. You’ll do your own hair and makeup, then we’ll take care of the photography. You don't need to know how to pose. That's our job.

We'll guide you through flattering poses and small adjustments to make the most of the light, the sheets and you.

“I’d never done anything like this before so was quite nervous, but Michael soon put me at ease and before I knew it I was having fun and loving the experience.” – Ms B

The experience

We’ll start with a quick chat about what you want from your photographs. Then we get started.

The actual photography takes around 30-40 minutes, and I'll guide you through everything. You don't need to worry about what to do – just relax and enjoy yourself.

You might be nervous when you arrive. That's completely normal. If you'd like some moral support, you're welcome to bring a quiet, supportive friend. We ask that partners, husbands and boyfriends sit this one out.

By the end, you'll probably wonder what you were nervous about.

You can read testimonials from our clients.

“Professional, fun experience, with amazing results - and a confidence boost to match. 10/10” – Ms C

The shoot

Your Black Sheet shoot includes:

  • A fully guided professional photo shoot
  • A relaxed, private studio experience
  • Your choice of three digital images
  • A private photo reveal and selection session, or online image viewing

You can also purchase additional digital images, prints, framed photographs, canvasses or one of our luxury photo books.
