A little boudoir. A lot of confidence

Curious about boudoir but don't want to commit to a full session? Our boudoir mini-sessions are designed to give you a taste of the Smoke&Mirrors Studio experience in a shorter, more focused shoot.

These sessions are all about sensuality, simplicity and beautiful photography. With one carefully chosen look and a focused approach, we can create a gorgeous collection of images without spending hours in the studio.

You don't need to be an experienced model, and you don't need to arrive knowing how to pose. We'll direct you throughout the session, using flattering light and considered posing to create photographs that celebrate your body and make you feel fantastic.

Quick. Easy. Beautiful.

Life is busy. Sometimes you want to do something special for yourself without committing an entire afternoon to it. A mini-session gives you that opportunity.

In around an hour, we'll create a focused set of boudoir photographs with one particular look or concept. There's less changing, less planning and less time in front of the camera – while still giving us plenty of opportunity to create beautiful, sensual images.

It's also a great introduction if you've never experienced boudoir before.

You might be nervous when you arrive. That's completely normal. Within a few minutes, we'll have you moving through simple poses and getting comfortable with the camera. Before you know it, you're looking at the back of the camera thinking: “Is that really me?” That's the moment we're looking for.

Sensual without being complicated

Boudoir doesn't have to mean elaborate lingerie, complicated sets or highly posed photographs.

Sometimes the most sensual photographs are the simplest. A bare shoulder. The curve of your back. A hand resting on your hip. Soft light across your skin. A sheet wrapped around your body.



We'll use light, shadow, movement and posing to create images that feel intimate and sophisticated rather than overly staged.

And you remain in control throughout. You decide how much you're comfortable revealing, and we'll work within those boundaries to create photographs you're genuinely excited to have.

Perfect for first-timers

If you've never done a boudoir shoot, a mini-session can be the perfect place to start. You don't need a wardrobe full of lingerie. You don't need a complicated concept. You don't need to know what looks good on camera. We'll take care of that.

Our Christchurch studio gives us a private, comfortable environment where we can concentrate on creating beautiful photographs. You simply bring yourself. The session is short enough to feel manageable but long enough to discover what professional boudoir photography can do.

White Sheet Boudoir

Our White Sheet Mini-Session is soft, sensual and beautifully timeless. Using a simple white sheet and beautiful window light, we create elegant photographs that can be as covered or revealing as you choose. The simplicity allows us to concentrate on your shape, movement and expression, creating images with a classic, fine-art feel.

It's an especially good choice if you're new to boudoir or want something romantic and understated. There's no elaborate styling to worry about – just you, the sheet, the light and our direction. We have an entire page on White Sheet, including many photo examples.

Black Sheet Boudoir

Our Black Sheet Mini-Session takes things in a darker, more dramatic direction. Stronger lighting, deep shadows and black fabric create photographs with contrast, mood and a little more attitude. The result is sensual, sophisticated and particularly striking in black and white.

If you like your photography with a little mystery, Black Sheet could be for you. It's still quick, simple and fully guided – but the finished photographs have a completely different energy. We have an entire page on Black Sheet, including many photo examples.
